Essential Oil Tips & Tricks

#1 - Try to make blends with oils that compliment each other.

When blending oils you want to make sure that the oils go well together. They may smell nice by themselves but that doesn't mean that they will smell nice when they are mixed.

#2- Freshen up a small space.

I love this trick because it is so easy and is very effective. If you would like to reduce odor in a car, closet or a small space take a cotton pad/ball or paper towel and add a few drops of your favorite oil to it. Then stick it in the desired space and in a few hours it will smell a lot better. You will want to replace this weekly. If you are putting it in you car, I recommend putting it in you air vent. This way as the air or heat is hitting the cotton ball it blows the scent into the car and acts like a natural air freshener. It is a lot better than inhaling all those harmful chemicals.

#3- Add oils to natural cleaners.

If you are one of those people who are interested in trying all-natural cleaning products then this tip is for you. Anyone who makes natural cleaners knows that when using vinegar it can leave a yucky smell. Well one thing you can do is add essential oils. I recommend using the classics like citrus, eucalyptus and pine, rosemary and thyme.

#4- Perfumes.

I personally like to use essential oils as perfumes. I like to use ones for each season. For Spring I recommend a flower essential oil like Geranium, Lavender, Bergamot and Chamomile. For Summer I recommend a citrus oil or a refreshing oil like lemon, grapefruit, orange, peppermint, spearmint, lemongrass or eucalyptus. For Fall I recommend a spice oil like ginger, cinnamon, clove or cardamom. For Winter I recommend the same spice oils and some other festive oils like apple, pine, orange, peppermint and sandalwood.

There are so many more uses for essential oils. Check out some of my oil blends.
